Tis the season for appraisals...

Appraisal time is around the corner. I've got the prep form. Here are the questions... and the answers I wish I could give...

1) What are the most important things you have achieved in the last 12 months?
-> I've come to know what depression is.
-> I know what it feels like to be suicidal.
-> I've learnt self control. Which is good otherwise someone may be dead now.

2) What are some of the difficulties you have encountered over the last 12 months, including obstacles that hinder the accomplishment of KRAs?
-> One name, four letters.

3) What do you plan to achieve in your job in the next 12 months?
-> Independence (pending people's selfish attitude towards teaching)

4) What kind of assistance, new skills and knowledge are required to help you accomplish your KRAs in the next 12 months?
-> Excel training
-> A new target for the Pain In My Ass. If she concentrates on the other, I'll have more peace.

5) In what ways would you like to see your career being developed over the next 3 years? What are your career aspirations? If you would prefer to be in a completely different functional area, please indicate your reasons.
-> I'd like to be able to do pre-openings. But for that, I'll need to know everything. Which I can't because of an obstacle (see qn 2).

Scary sight, innit? Nah. I know the Seventh Month is here again but this isn't a sighting. It's just Jac in a vain-pot mood. She didn't know I took this pic. Had her eyes closed the whole time. Teeheehee...

That crazy dingbat next door's at it again. Must be off her meds again. She was like that yesterday... screaming at the top of her voice and banging her bloody doors. Dunno what she's goin on about cos it's all in Chinese. Doesn't matter; she's nuts. We all know that. We just pity her aged mom. And Teddy's scared shitless, he keeps looking for me to protect him from her.

Fraser Fiesta 2006

Was one of the two 'Official Photographers' running around at this year's Fiesta, the other being Cheryl. Last year I was a photographer as well, though unofficial. Simply cos I officially joined the company the day AFTER the event.

This year was heaps more fun, mainly due to the inpromptu games that they came up wiv. And the turnout was better. It rained again this year, same as it did last year. Since we were all wet from scrambling to get stuff in from out of the rain, some of us decided to just jump into the pool... play in the rain. Loads of fun... no regrets, even though I'm sick today and on a day of sick leave tomorrow.

Having problems uploading photos. Will try again tomorrow, I guess.

Ah... Fort Siloso. It's the one place on Sentosa that I really love. I liked it better before they did it up, though. Dunno why. Maybe when it was a bit run-down, it looked more authentic. Like when we used to go there as kids. The tower in the pic up there... wasn't sealed off. So we could climb all the way up for a view of the sea. It meant nothing much to the grown ups, but it was way fun for me. Especially when you let your imagination run wild and you see yourself as one of the troops running about around there.

We must have been pests back then. I remember missing the last bus (bus services ended by 1800hrs) from the fort back to the ferry terminal (the old one) and we had to walk all the way back. Back then, there was no monorail, no green/blue line bus and cars weren't allowed to drive in. Heck... there were barely any visitor attractions like there are now and I don't recall there being as many tourists as there are now. I remember being scared cos we'd been told that the fort was haunted and the road back was quite ulu... nothing but trees. And it was getting dark fast. And my godmother telling us we had nothing to be scared about... wiv all the ruckus we were making, the ghosts were probably more afraid of us than we were of them.

Ah... those were the days. Heh heh...

Here's a video that I've made. Don't expect much out of it... there's no video footage in there cos I can't get that #$@#$%R!! video camera of mine to work so I've put a few pix that the Colonel and I took at the last club trip up to Krabi together and strung it wiv music.

Ellen - Coming Out episode

I remember watchin the series Ellen, way back when. I enjoyed watching it for two reasons... it was funny, and Ellen was in it. Found her cute then, find her cute now. I also remember thinking how much of a bummer it was that the coming out episode was banned here in our stuffy little island of squares. Never thought I'd ever get to see that episode.

Well... I'll never get to see that oh-so-famous episode, but lookee at what I've found...

Home - Michael Buble

This song's been in my head today. Dunno why.

"Home"

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
I just wanna go home
Oh I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
That this is not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

Anybody up for some Harry Potter music videos on this rainy Sunday? All very nicely done. As you can tell, I'm very bored today.

Hello Muddah, Hello Fuddah.

Could this be magic?
It's raining buckets outside... one can barely see beyond the school. Bummer. To think it was ok when I went for my haircut (it looks kinda good when it's all gelled up and everything now)... just to end up getting caught in the rain and arrive home looking like a drowned rat. I hope I don't end up getting sick tomorrow.

Stupid weather. Looks like I'll have to pass on the Sunday meet that will be on this evening. What a way to spend the day. There's nothing much on the telly either. Even the cartoon channels have nothing interesting.

Went to Gardens this morning to run some errands and decided to take these pix. Alf had a posting on the family blog (more like a challenge, really) about posting up pix of Singapore Landmarks, since there are at least four amateur photographers in the family. I think it's a good idea.

Now I need to get out and take more pix of our landmarks. I wonder though... why didn't I think of that before? Duh!

Westlife - You Raise Me Up [Tickled Pink 2005]

"You Raise Me Up"

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

Ever since I first heard this song being sung by Josh Groban, it's been one of my favourites. Now it's being re-done by one of my most favourite of bands. And both versions sound equally nice. EXCELLENT!

Ah... the Italian Job. One of my most favourite shows with the best chase scenes ever. Hate the ending though... when they throw the Minis off the cliff.

Everytime they show the movie here, I can practically imagine other classic Mini enthusiasts everywhere on the island going "AAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" *faint*.

I found this on youtube.com
It's a bit long but enjoyable all the same (if you're a Mini enthusiast like me).

Jac resigned. Today was officially her last day at work and the Sales and Marketing team celebrated it at some cafe called Monkeys Cafe. The food was okay... but the company was better. Here are some pics of the night...

For the record, as I'm bloggin this I've just helped her polish off a bottle of very strong wine... two of us, one bottle. My mind's a bit on the tra-la-la side...

I'm going to sleep now....
