Godmothers

When I was young, I remember my Godma as being a 'cool' aunt. She used to babysit us once in awhile and play hide-and-seek in the dark with us (my fondest memory), let us stay over at her place to play with our cousin, and basically hang out with us once in awhile. Once in awhile, we got to go watch her play softball (yes, she played in a league when she was still working). During our teenage years, she'd be the one I knew I could talk to when I couldn't see eye-to-eye with the folks. She didn't always take our side but sometimes it was the way she explained things to us (what we did wrong, what we should be doing, etc.) that made all the difference. It was better than the relatively authoritarian way my folks got their point across. Godma has toned down a lot since then. She's more religious now but she's still the same in many ways. I still always enjoy talking to her, whether via email, on the phone or at our family gatherings.
One of the things I've learned from Godma is that you can be sporty and fun loving yet still be grounded and know not to go overboard with things. Now that I'm Trinity's Godma, I'm hoping to be able to emulate the same kind of bond with her as I have with my Godma and help keep her as grounded and well mannered as possible. If I do things right, many years from now, she'll be able to say "That's MY Godma!"

Trinity's Second Birthday

The girl celebrated her birthday last Sunday. Her actual birthday was on the 21st. No prizes as to what the theme of her birthday was.
On a seperate note, we found out that Dawn has managed to get a house in Serangoon Gardens. That's cool cos that means that they'll be closer to mom and dad. And the best part is, the house they bought looks like an exact replica of grandma's house before godpa renovated it. Dawn says she'll be keeping it as is, except for bits of changes here and there. No major reno. Can't wait til they move.
